The Teamsters Union has booked the Raven Room at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17. Stop in for a coffee or tea and meet your Teamster representatives.
The Canada Labour Code requires a minimum payment of $5 when signing a union card. The payment is covered in the Labour Code, Part 3—Applications relating to bargaining rights, evidence of employee's wishes.
To be recognized as a member of a trade union, you must be able to show evidence that you have signed an application for membership in the union and that you've paid at least $5 within the six-month period immediately before the date on which the application was filed.

Don’t listen to the IAM rumours. Here's what the Canada Labour Code says:
Section 47.3(2)—“An employer who succeeds a previous contractor as the provider of services, in
accordance with a contract or other arrangement, must pay to the employees providing the services under that contract or arrangement remuneration not less than that which the employees of the previous contractor who provided the same or substantially similar services were entitled to receive under the terms of a collective agreement to which this Part applied.”
The Teamsters will make sure that YOU have the opportunity to elect a bargaining committee representing all regions in the province. Any proposed collective agreement will be presented for ratification by a majority vote. You will not have a top down, voluntary recognition collective agreement imposed on you.
Teamsters belong to a democratic union. Our shop stewards are elected by the members in the bargaining unit. They are not appointed. Teamster committee members who are helping YOU come to a STRONG UNION will NOT automatically become your shop stewards.
If the organizing drive is successful, a dedicated business agent will be assigned to the screeners bargaining unit.
Our organizers are at YVR daily. You are invited to talk to one of them at your convenience.
Fraternally yours,
Ray Zigmont, President

Under the Canada Labour Code, employees are free to join a trade union of their choice. Employers are prohibited from interfering with your choice of union.
You are employees of Aeroguard until G4S becomes your employer on Nov. 1, 2011.
Application by the Teamsters Union to represent you will be made on or after Nov. 1, given your support. Certification of a trade union requires a majority of the bargaining unit members to have signed union cards.
The Teamsters Union will protect your wages, benefits and seniority through collective bargaining.
The rumored $147 initiation fee to sign a Teamsters card is NOT TRUE. There is NO initiation fee.
The Teamsters have represented Screeners in various regional airports in B.C. for the past 8 years and are interested in representing you with G4S.
