While we have no idea how long or how deep the recession will be, now is a good time to upgrade your training through the Teamsters Joint Training School.
The program is four to six hours long depending on the number of members participating. There is a test at the end of the program. Once you have the certificate, you will be certified to transport dangerous goods for three years.
A minimum of six members must register for each course or the course will be cancelled. So, call up a Teamster friend to sign up too and ensure that the class goes ahead. A $50 registration fee must be submitted with your registration; $40 will be returned upon completion of the course.
To register, or for further information, contact Tom Sigurdson, Training Coordinator at
604-874-3654.
The BC Association for Crane Safety received more than 12,000 registrations from operators requiring assessment. To say the response was overwhelming would be an understatement.
The Fulford Harbour Group has been contracted to conduct the assessments for all crane operators. To ensure the assessments are conducted in a timely and orderly manner, the company is sending out letters in batches of 1,250 to advise registrants of what the assessment process will be and what the next steps in the process are. The letters are going out in the order in which they were initially received at the BC Association for Crane Safety. If you have not yet received your letter, be patient. You will.
In the meantime, if you want more information about the assessment process, go to www.fulford.ca/index.html or call them toll free at 1-888-952-6033 or from the Lower Mainland at 604-952-6033.
Given the recent downturn in the economy, the articulated rock truck training programs scheduled for this spring in the Lower Mainland and Kelowna have been postponed.
Applications from members who indicated an interest in the program are on file and will be considered for the next courses.
If you have any questions regarding the Articulated Rock Truck training program, contact Tom Sigurdson, Training Coordinator at 604-874-3654.
