This year, the Filipino Community experienced an unprecedented tragedy during the Lapu Lapu Festival on April 26, 2025. What should have been a day of pride and joy became one of the most heartbreaking moments in this community’s history. The incident has left many in deep pain and grief, and even today, the process of healing continues.
In response, Teamsters Local 213 is supporting the Cebuano Society of Canada’s effort to host “A Night of Cultural Diversity and Collective Healing” on October 4, 2025, from 5PM to 11:30PM at Riverside Banquet Hall in Richmond. This evening of togetherness will feature shared meals, cultural performances, dances and music— serving not only as a fundraiser but as a symbolic gesture towards emotional recovery for those affected.
