Teamsters Local 213 was proud to join Premier David Eby, members of the Nisga’a and Tahltan Nations and our signatory contractor Arrow Transportation Systems to celebrate the opening of the The Portland Canal Marine Terminal in Stewart, BC.
The Portland Canal Marine Terminal is a fully permitted deep-sea shipping terminal with the primary purpose of facilitating critical mineral transportation from mines like Brucejack and Red Chris.
Because Arrow is one of our signatory contractors, all workers at the port, and hauling to and from the port, will be Teamsters 213 members under the pre-existing collective agreement.
Teamsters Local 213 is excited at the opportunity to strengthen our presence in the north. This new infrastructure will bring sustainable, good-paying jobs to the community for years to come.
We are also honoured to be a part of this important step in the reconciliation process with the Nisga’a and Tahltan peoples. We thank them for their leadership on this project!
