IKEA Richmond locks out employees Monday May 13th

IKEA Richmond store will lock out its employees effective Monday May 13th.   After two rejected offers that called for a variety of concessions, a proposed return to a tiered wage system and contracting out of bargaining unit work the workers must now protect themselves.  United action can achieve what needs to be done and Teamsters members at the IKEA Richmond store are firmly committed to resolving it together by uniting in solidarity and are fully supported by their Union.  “The Company has shown little interest in dealing with our issues at the bargaining table and our members are not interested in going backwards” said Anita Dawson Business Representative with Teamsters Local 213.  The Company can choose to ignore the workers, or negotiate with the Union in good faith.   The Union however remains committed to negotiating a fair collective agreement.  Unity is the key for Teamster members.   It’s essential that we get everyone get on the “right bus” that is moving in the right direction with a shared vision, focus, purpose and direction. When a team comes together they are able to succeed together and best of all it leads to positive results.
